Anthropy25: Conversations That Matter at the Eden Project

Apr 29, 2025

The magnificent biodomes of Cornwall's Eden Project provided a fitting backdrop for Anthropy25, an extraordinary gathering of minds focused on creating a more sustainable future. From 26-28 March 2025, I joined nearly 2,000 attendees immersed in meaningful dialogue about the most pressing challenges of our time.

A Convergence of Visionaries

With 596 speakers delivering 225 sessions over three days, Anthropy25 created a vibrant tapestry of ideas spanning climate action, cultural transformation, education reform, health innovation, and responsible leadership. What struck me most was the genuine commitment to solutions rather than merely discussing problems.

The event's broad agenda tackled several critical themes that resonated deeply with Envisionation's mission. Discussions on economic renewal emphasised creating hope and opportunity for young people—something we've long advocated through our Biosphere Restoration Plan and Empathy Economics framework. These approaches, I'm pleased to say, found themselves right at home amongst the forward-thinking conversations at Anthropy25.

Ecocide Law: A Pivotal Conversation

I was honoured to join the panel on "Ecocide Law: Catalysing Positive Change" organised by Stop Ecocide International. The session, held in the atmospheric Palm section of the Rainforest Biome, attracted a capacity audience, highlighting the growing recognition that our legal frameworks must evolve to protect Earth's natural systems.

The panel explored how establishing ecocide as an international crime could fundamentally shift our relationship with the natural world, providing a powerful legal framework that aligns perfectly with Envisionation's holistic approach to environmental stewardship.

Beyond the Conference Halls

What truly sets Anthropy apart is how it extends beyond formal sessions. With attendees filling accommodations throughout the region, conversations that began during scheduled events continued over breakfast at local hotels and carried on until late evening discussions at the bar.

My stay at the Pier House, with its splendid views overlooking Charlestown Harbour, became a microcosm of the wider event—a place where ideas flowed freely, connections formed naturally, and collaborative possibilities emerged through unhurried conversation.

Looking Forward

Events like Anthropy25 reinforce my belief that solutions to our most complex challenges require cross-disciplinary thinking and genuine human connection. The discussions on governance adapting to climate risk, addressing inequality, and involving younger voices in leadership all point toward the systemic transformation we champion at Envisionation.

As I reflect on three days of intense learning and connection, I'm struck by how the event's ethos mirrors our own: that lasting change comes through understanding interconnected systems and fostering empathy across traditional boundaries.

Will I be returning next year?

Absolutely! In an era when meaningful dialogue is more crucial than ever, Anthropy stands out as an essential gathering for anyone committed to creating a more sustainable, equitable future.
